Overview
What this course is about
Every app and website you enjoy using was designed by someone who thought carefully about how it looks and how it feels to use. That is exactly what UI and UX design is, and this course teaches both sides of it: designing screens that look good, and designing experiences that actually make sense to the people using them. The course gives equal weight to UX and UI, because good design needs both. On the UX side you learn how to understand users and their needs, map out how people move through an app or website, and plan screens with wireframes before any colour or styling is added. You learn why certain layouts feel natural and others frustrate people, and how to make design decisions based on the user instead of guessing. On the UI side you learn to turn those plans into clean, modern, good looking interfaces. You work with colour, typography, spacing and layout to design polished screens for both mobile apps and websites. You then bring your designs to life with clickable prototypes, so you can show exactly how a real app or site would work before a single line of code is written. You do all of this in Figma and Penpot, the tools real design teams use, and everything is taught through hands on projects. Class sizes are small so your instructor can review your work and guide your eye. By the end you have a portfolio of app and website designs and the skill to work as a UI/UX designer, freelance for clients, or design your own products. No design or coding background is needed to start.
